About Arunachal Pradesh


It is a magnificent plateau and the seat of Lower Subansiri District, located 167 kilometres from Itanagar. It is one of Arunachal Pradesh's oldest towns. This lovely hill station is situated at a height of 1500 metres above sea level. The environment is impressive, with lush green forest, rivulets, and high spots. It is well-known for its paddy-cum-pisciculture farming. The region is known for its terrace paddy fields, where the locals use a unique polyculture and water management method.

The town, which is primarily inhabited by the Apatani tribe, takes on a joyful appearance during the Apatani people's festivals. Ziro is also an Advance Landing Ground (ALG) of Indian Air Force.

Mechuka is a small village in Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang District, lying about 6,000 feet above sea level in the Mechuka Valley. This beautiful valley is just 29 kilometres from the Indo-Tibet border and 500 kilometres from Itanagar, the state capital. It is one of the most beautiful places in the state. Mechuka is about 180 kilometres from the nearest significant town, Along, which is a major tourist destination. This Arunachal Pradesh location is well-known for its religious and historical significance. Menchuka is another name for Mechuka, which is made up of three terms in the local language: "Men" means "medicinal," "Chu" means "water," and "Kha" means "ice." The melted snow from the snow-capped mountain is said to have medicinal properties.

The location is a piece of heaven on earth, with unspoiled natural beauty. This place is progressively becoming a prominent tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh due to its fascinating sceneries, diverse tribes, natural beautiful lake, snow-capped mountains, and Siyom River or Yargyap Chu (local name). The Siyom River, which runs through Mechuka, provides a breathtaking perspective of the valley. The Memba, Ramo, Bokar, and Libo tribes are the predominant inhabitants of the Mechuka Valley.


Day 1

Arrival at Itanagar
Pickup from the airport or the Naharalagun station depending upon your arrival. Drop off at Itanagar. Check in at 6 pm in the evening. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Itanagar City Tour
We will take you to the possible sightseeing spots in the city. The Nyishi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh lives in these parts of the state. Ita Fort, Namdapha National Park and Nehru National Museum is also included. Local market visit in the evening. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3

Itanagar to Ziro
On this day, after having breakfast, we will leave for Ziro through the beautiful hilly roads. On the way pay a visit to Tribal Nyishi village, where you will get to see their unique bamboo architectures. Ziro is located 5754 feet above the sea level, and it is the headquarter of the Lower Sabunsiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a highland surrounded by Apatani tribal villages of Diibo, Hija, Bulla, Hari and Hong. The uniqueness of Apatani tribe is the tattoos on women & man, and nose rings worn by women. Stay overnight at hotel in Ziro.

Day 4

Ziro sightseeing
After breakfast, we will set out to explore the beautiful landscapes and tribes of Ziro. The Apatinis are non-nomadic tribes. They are all settled in and around Ziro valley. The prime livelihood of this tribe is cultivation in wet lands. This tribe is very different from the other tribes of Arunachal. We will interact with the local people, and experience tribal cuisine. The stay will be at the same hotel in Ziro. You will love the lush green landscapes and mountains of the Ziro valley.

Day 5

Ziro to Aalo via Daporijo
Almost an entire day journey, we start at morning 9:30 sharp after breakfast and expect to reach Aalo by 10 at night. Lunch at 2 on the way, at a dhaba in Daporijo. Enroute, we will visit Nyishi & Tagin villages. Dinner at a resort in Aalo.

Day 6

Aalo to Mechuka
After breakfast, we'll explore Aalo for an hour or more. Aalo or Along is situated on the bank of Siang River at altitude of 1020 ft. It is a beautiful valley with picturesque landscapes. Then we'll head towards north-western direction, towards Mechuka. A 6 hour journey will drop us at the hotel by 7 pm. Snacks and dinner at the hotel in Mechuka. The river Yargyapchu (aka Siyom) flows in the valley of Mechukha.

Day 7

Mechuka-Pasighat
Post breakfast, we'll go for sightseeing in Mechuka. Then we'll head towards Paisghat. An 8 hour journey, it is located at a distance of 145 Kms Along the bank of river Siang. It is the land of two famous tribes Passi and Minnyiong. Over night at Pasighat.

Day 8

Pasighat to Dibrugarh
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart for Dibrugarh as we soar homewards. Cross the Brahmaputra river by a ferry. After spending more than a week amidst the serene hills, we will be in the plains of Assam. Overnight stay at Dibrugarh.

Day 9

Depart
Drop off at Dibrugarh Airport on time and fly back to your own destination with sweet memories of northeast India.. Have a safe journey homewards.

  • By Air: Zero Airport or Ziro Airport is located at Ziro in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India.
    Lilabari, or Mohanbari (Dibrugarh) in Assam, and Guwahati International Airport are the closest airports to Mechuka. The UDAAN plan also provides a twice-weekly helicopter service to Mechuka (Saturday and Monday). Flying from New Delhi to Mechuka and then driving the rest of the way is one of the fastest and finest methods to get there. There is a flight from New Delhi to Dibrugarh that takes about 2 hours and 12 minutes.

  • By Rail: The railway stations from Ziro are at Naharalagun (100 kms) and North Lakhimpur (117 kms).
    Mechuka is 180 kilometres from Aalo, another popular tourist location in Arunachal Pradesh. The nearest rail station is in Silapathar, 390 kilometres away, or in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh. If you're coming from New Delhi, a train runs twice a week from Anand Vihar Train Station to Naharlagun, taking about 38 hours.After arriving in Naharlagun, you can go by road to Mechuka, which takes around 7 hours and 45 minutes.

  • By Road: Ziro is well connected by road to major cities in India
    The West Siang District and Aalo, the district headquarters, are the main entry points to Mechuka, which is also connected to AP's capital city Itanagar. Aalo may be reached via private sumo cab, bus, or private automobile hire. While there are two routes to Aalo from Itanagar, one through Pasighat and the other through Silapathar, it is recommended that you use the Pasighat route. The road distance from Guwahati to Aalo is around 817 kilometres, and bus services are available from both Guwahati and Itanagar. It is more convenient to book a Sumo Cab from Aalo to Mechuka.
