About Chitrakote


Chitrakot Waterfall is a stunning waterfall in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, India. It is located on the river Indravati. This waterfall reaches a height of 90 feet. This waterfall's unique feature is that while the water is reddish during rainy days, it appears completely white during summer moonlight nights.

The waterfall is located at a distance of 40 km from Jagdalpur and 273 km from Raipur . Chitrakote Falls is the largest and most water-logged waterfall in Chhattisgarh. It is the most important waterfall in the Bastar division. It has also earned a reputation as a popular picnic spot due to its proximity to Jagdalpur. This waterfall is also known as the "Niagara of India" because of its resemblance to horse feet. The Chitrakoot waterfall is breathtaking, and visitors adore it. A massive water body pours from this water fall in the centre of the strong trees and Vindhya hills, attracting tourists' attention.

The famed Chitrakot falls, often known as the "Niagra of India," may be seen at any time of year, but witnessing it during the rainy season is a more thrilling experience. The roar of massive water during the peak of the rain causes both thrills and shudders. During the rainy season, the splendour of these springs is breathtaking. It is acceptable for guests to come here between July and October. The picturesque waterfalls are surrounded by dense forest, which adds to their natural beauty. The river has been fully illuminated, illuminating this location. With the tourist light, the magnificence of the waterfall's cascading water may be viewed. On different occasions, this waterfall produces at least three and up to seven streams.


Day 1

Chitrakote Falls
The first day will be the day where you rest at the resort after arrival from Raipur, and in the noon time will be escorted to the majestic wonderful Chitrakote falls, which is the heartbeat or soul of this location. Chitrakote Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall situated on the river Indravati in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state of India. The height of this waterfall is 90 feet. Day 2

Tirathgarh Waterfall
Tirathgarh waterfall comes under Kanger valley in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. This waterfall is 35 km from Jagdalpur in the south-west direction .The famous Tirathgarh waterfalls, known as the “Magician of Kanger Valley”, are among the highest waterfalls in India. It is counted in the highest waterfalls of Chhattisgarh. The water flows from 300 feet of height. Kangar and its tributaries, ‘Manuga’ and ‘Bahar’ together produce this beautiful waterfall. With the huge water reservoir, the white water flowing along with the horrific roar gives visitors a unique experience. The best time to see the Tirathgarh waterfall is from October to April, along with the rainy season. The greenery all around the place is also something that catches the eye of a nature-lover. In the evening, there will be local cab-drivers who will escort you to the local marketplace at Jagdalpur for marketing and buying souvenirs, garments, etc.

Day 3

Local sightseeing
On Day 3, you will be taken to the majestic Kanger Ghati National Park. Kanger Valley National Park is 34 km away from Jagdalpur in Kanger Valley. This is a ‘biosphere reserve’. Kangar Valley National Park is one of the most beautiful and scenic national parks of India. It is famous for its natural beauty and unique rich biodiversity. Kanger valley was given the status of ‘National Park’ in 1982. Apart from wildlife and tree plants, there are many attractions for tourists inside the park. Like- Kotamsar caves, Kailash caves, Dandak caves and Tirathgarh waterfall . This park also has a large number of tribal population and it is an ideal tourist destination for those wishing to see the best wildlife of Chhattisgarh. You may catch the sight of amazing wildlife like Tiger, Leopard, Mouse Deer, Wild Cat, Chital, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Wolf, Langoor, Reis Macca, Sloth Bear, etc. and also some critically endangered species including spotted owls, red wild boats, rakit tailed drongo, peacocks, parrots, stapy eagles, red fur phal, reprimand, brown pheasants, tree pies and heron birds. After lunch in a famous local restaurant in vilage Sukhi where you will be served authentic tribal cuisine, you will be taken to Kotamsar Cave. The Kotamsar cave is located near the Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. This cave is made by humans, also called ‘Kampola Shankarai Cave’. There are many secrets hidden in the darkness of this cave, which are still being addressed. It is believed that there was a habitation of adivasis in the Kotamsar cave earlier. Blind fishes are found in Kotamsar cave. Many scientists and veterinary scientists have done their research here, and this is the fame of this cave around the world.This cave was discovered in 1951 by renowned geography scientist Dr. Shankar Tiwari. In the local language, ‘kotamsar’ means “fortress surrounded by water”. Geologists have found the remains of prehistoric humans living in this cave. According to their studies, this entire area was completely submerged in the water and it is confirmed by the scientific study of the outer and internal parts of the kotamsar caves.

Day 4

Back to raipur
Day 4, and you are back to where the trip began. RAIPUR. The capital city of Chattisgarh offers you Nandan Van Zoo & Safari, where you will be able to see a wide variety of wildlife. Nandan Van Zoo and Safari is the largest man-made Jungle Safari of Asia. It has many forms of life to be explored in Gypsy. In the evening, you can visit the local markets for food and timepass and marketing, etc.

Day 4

Departure
The last day where you have to say goodbye to the beautiful state of Chattisgarh, and leave for home with an amazing collection of memories captured in snaps and videos. We'd wish you a safe journey homewards after escorting you from Hotel Arya Inn to the Raipur station/airport.

  • By Plane: Bastar has its own airport, which is run by the state government as part of the UDAN programme. Currently, the AIRODISHA operates flights between Jagdalpur and Raipur, as well as Jagdalpur and Vishakapatnam. The nearest airport is at Raipur, which is about 300 kilometres from Bastar. Many airline companies offer regular flights from here to all of the major cities. From Raipur Airport to Jagdalpur, pre-paid cabs are readily available.

  • By Rail: Railways connect Jagdalpur, the district headquarters of Bastar district, to Vishakapatnam and Raipur. East Coast Railway operates the Jagdalpur railway station. From NMDC Bacheli to Vishapakatnam, this railway line is the main source of iron ore transportation. The following trains run from Jagdalpur: Vishakapatnam-Kirandul Passenger (58501), Durg-Jagdalpur Express (18211), Hawrah-Koraput Express (18005), Hirakhand Express (18448), and Vishakapatnam-Jagdalpur(Night Express).
